Paper Bird - support your independents!

Was in the beautiful Nairn (just outside of Inverness) the other day for a spot of vintage/charity shopping got two beauts of handbags for like £4! Came across this lovely little shop called Paper Bird. If you guys are in the highlands at any point you must go it is AMAZING! It reminded me of lots of kooky gems I found when I was in Williamsburg last year to visit the lovely Fred Flare.

They stock Cath Kidston, Fred & Friends, Hello Kitty and gorgeous little trinkets. Go visit them now its such a cute little store!

ATM they don't have a site or blog but visit them on their Facebook page here and convince them to set up on-line! If you are looking for amazing gift-wrap or baking décor these guys will sort you out.

Lets support our independent retailers! Loves it.

Michael Kors gets Married - to a man!

I'm sorry but am I the only one who thought Mr.Kors was straight?!
My fave reality tv fashion judge (except Tim Gunn but he's in a league of his own) got married on Tuesday to his long term partner Lance Le Pere in the Hamptons (yay) Kors actually met his match when he interned for him in Paris in 1990 - too cute!

Same sex marriage in New York - woo hoo! God finally.

“She looks like a transvestite flamenco dancer at a funeral”

Congrats you two!

Channel your inner granny

I am obsessed with scarves especially when it gets just that little bit chillier. I defiantly think it is one of my winter staple pieces. For about five years I have been hoarding onto my Kate Moss for Topshop number from what I think was her second collection (when people were still in hype stage basically) and everyone constantly ripped it out of me because I looked like Doctor Who. Was doing my daily ASOS browse (when I put stuff in my basket that I cannot afford and basically torture myself) I came across a new scarf friend for the winter chill.

I have been obsessed with Henry Holland and House of Holland since his graduate collection ( I hate his Debenhams collections purely because I think he sold out, but lets not talk about that.) I love his autumn/Winter 2011 crochet pieces and agree with Dolly Jones of Vogue by stating it is Holland's best collection to date. I think he will defiantly be responsible in crochet madness on the high-street and actually made tweed and crochet look HAWT. Tottaly eyeing up this bad boy below, have have to get my mum to fashion one up for me.

House of Holland Multi Coloured Crochet Scarf

£394.00

Can any of you crochet? maybe I should learn to save the £300. Loves it. Do you reckon the crochet trend has mass appeal or do you need convincing?

Not seen the collection? Well watch here courtesy the lovelies at Swarovski

New Lady Gaga - You and I

AMAZING SONG - AMAZING VIDEO, THOUGHTS?

Abercrombie don't do GTL

I'm not doing the blog anymore I'm running off to Malia to have the "girls holiday" I never had.

Nah just kidding. Went to see the inbetweeners last night on a double date - HILAR. I did feel old as anything tho with all the pubescent adolescents and an air of lynx body spray, lord only knows how my mother felt, who I took as my date.

Heard all about the Abercrombie Situation with funnily enough "the situation" yesterday but didn't have time to blog so you probably all know about it now but I think it's hilarious. So basically Mike Sorrentino aka "the situation" from Jersey Shore has been offered a cash payout from Abercrombie and Fitch to stop him apparently tarnishing their brand.

A statement was released yesterday - lols.

'We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans.'

Hmmmmm......really abercrombie? Then why design this t-shirt right off the back of the Jersey Shore bandwagon?

'' Gym, tanning and laundry anyone? ''

FFS! Poor Mike, maybe try hollister they'll probably let anyone wear that shit. Publicity stunt possibly? Considering the brand recently dipped 10% in the stock-market?

'' We are so aspirational ''

I'm sorry but for gods sake a company that has so many legal battles and constantly being reported about how they treat their staff,I'm sure one person won't "tarnish" their reputation. The damage has already been done.

Would you let this man endorse your brand?

Persian Vogue

Sitting outside in the sun with my Persian. Cute huh?

Came across some gorgeous images directed by Grace Coddington shot for US vogue in fall 2008 and shot by partner Steven Meisel. This shoot is absolutely amazing a true tribute to Grace from Karen Elson. If you have no idea who grace is - shame on you. Go watch the September issue and you might just learn something.

Loves it.

Ashish on ASOS

Hasn't Ashish Gupta done good?  Spotted by Browns Focus whilst at St. Martins, his first collection in 2001 critically aclaimed leading to his debut LFW collection in 2004. Not content with dressing numerous celebs and Hoxton scenesters and a Topshop collection Ashish has just launched A/W 2011 on ASOS - YAY. I bloody love how he fuses western and eastern cultures together and does not make sequins look tacky AT ALL.

I am skint but surely a gal can dream? Here are some of the stand out pieces to drool over.

Hello Mate! Topshop goes to oz

Topshop are going full steam ahead with their worldwide domination. Fresh on the heels of their Chicago opening, the fashion Mecca is coming to Australia.

The first stand-alone Topshop store in Australia is set to open in Melbourne by the end of the year(further plans of a Sydney branch following) With a December opening the 1300 square metre site at The Jam Factory on Chapel Street will also include clothing from Topman. My Philip green has decided a cautious approach with his Ozzie expansion and is using a franchisee "Next At leisure"

Here's the statement from big Phil:

"I am delighted to be launching the Topshop and Topman brands in Australia," Topshop's owner Sir Philip Green said in a statement.

"This represents another step in our continued international growth, and I am confident that the Australian customers will enjoy the retail experience and fantastic product offer that both our brands will deliver for them."

What do you guys think? Excited? I know my bezzie Lynnie will be she says the shopping in oz is totes rubbish.

Loves it.

River island character hats - thanks Katy Perry, thanks alot.

Remember this image all the way back in winter 2009? When Katy and Russell just got together and she spent time with him wandering about London with her Chanel and THAT hat.

Ah river island when that hat came out along with that image in the press you hit gold! Everyone and their nan had one of those bloody hats and I thought they had disappeared off the space of the earth never to be seen again on girls in an ugg/legging style combo but sweet Jesus River Island have only done it again haven't they, this autumn/winter 2011.

Now I understand the huge fall trends of character knits that are invading the high street as we speak but shoppers are savvy, stop giving us the same stuff season after season. The one thing I hate about high street (and topshop are so bad at doing this ATM) is seeing something go to fad status because they roll it out in every colour/style under the sun until everyone in Glasgow has it.

Shame on you River Island I had alot of faith in you this year. Shame on you.

Kill.me.now

Would you wear any of these, despite the trend dying two years ago.....?

I'm a little topshop polar bear

I need this jumper in my life

I have long been obsessed with creature comfort knits. Especially in autumn when its chilly and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to wear a nice mammal on my sweater. I think the obsession came from Chanel Fall 2007 and their penguin knit. AMAZING! I still think about the amazingness of that jumper to this day.

Since that was like 4 years ago (WTF I feel old?) I need to track down a cute critter to match. This one from topshop will do just fine with my fur muff for the cold months - yay!

Topshop £46 - buying it now

Anyone think Topshop were insensitive given that Horatio Chapple,17 year old Eton school boy was mauled to death by a polar bear in Norway recently? Maybe it just slipped their minds eh? I'm sure some folk will complain about it anyway.

Loves it.

Sex and the City - the fashion crimes of season 1

me and the bff had a SATC marathon last night (we got through 12 episodes of season 1) and literally cringed through each episode. Highlights included ; Miranda looking like a massive lesbian in her dungarees, Carrie and her scrunched up ringlets (ewwwww) and why does she always wear that fur coat? How big Mr.Bigs eyebrows are (have they always been like that?) Surely Pat Field didn't style it from season 1, I know its 1998 but jesus they all look horrific!

K-Stew for W

Whoaw HELLO! Somebody has had a little bit of photoshop haven't they! As much as everyone disses the K-stew I think she looks hot as hell here in the 60s inspired shoot.

If I had that much airbrushing I'm sure R-Patz would try and eat the crap out of me too.

Doesn't she totally look like a mix between Miranda Kerr and the Lohan?

Saturday style icons (of the fictional kind)

Couldn't sleep last night and was thinking how amazing it would've to watch some retro nickelodeon, then got to thinking of timeless fictional style icons who even 15 years on are still on the cutting edge of style.

Judy Funnie of Doug fame. Never without her trustee beret and some Shakespearean prose. A true beatnik who you would most likely see in Starbucks with a skinny flat white, raybans and tales of woe of how she is a struggling artiste.

Jane Lane of Daria fame (didn't mean for that to rhyme) your grungey artsy style will never fade, whenever I put on my DM's I will channel your dry whit all those years after you made me want to pieces my ears a million times. most likely to see at the back of a Marc Jacobs show with a cig and sarcasm.

Absolutely loves it.
